<div class="IPBDescription">I just started mapping, and god NS is...</div> Ns is one tough cookie to map for. I maped for about 4 months about a year and 1/2 ago. So I have some meager idea what I am doing. But wow..NS is nothing to laugh at. I considered the mappers that made the offical maps artists before..but now..wow. I consider them freaking divine. Anyway, I look at the guide, and have decided to follow it and see if I can learn more that way. I have already learned alot in the last 2 weeks since I began redoing tutorials. But here is the quick(10 minute) MS paint layout. Its not totally to scale, and that one room below the top hive is actually connet to the right hallway, though it does not look like it. Tell me what you guys think..and later today I will give you the first shots of my RR. I have a feeling I will need lots of help. Also, I am on my lunch break but i will give the plot a little later.

Right now its going to be a biosphere research station on a moon.

Basic Layout...

    Ben128,

    Lemme tell ya somethings. Download InfranView <a href='http://www.sew-and-sews.com/sns/Tutorials/InstallingIView.htm' target='_blank'>http://www.sew-and-sews.com/sns/Tutorials/...allingIView.htm</a>
    It's free and will let you do a lot of things to images and most of it in batches. For today, it will load up BMP's and save them as GIF's.

    GIF format are ideal for layouts. GIF is really good at compressing simply computer graphics like lines and boxs.
    JPG is the ideal format for pictures of real life. BMP is just plain bad. By default it writes down what color each pixel is individually. As a redeeming feature, sometimes you can save BMPs as RLE (Run length encoding, literally "red for 100 pixels, green for 1 pixel, red for 121 pixels...) and they can be smaller.

    Here's the image you were including, changed from a 2MB BMP into a 17KB Gif:
    <img src='http://members.verizon.net/~vze3nyjg/ns_genesis.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image'>

    I just learned today that if you want to embed an image into your message, you give the address to it between tags of IMG and /IMG (tags need to be inside square brackets [])

    for example and with extra spaces added:
    [I M G]ht tp://mywebspace.com/~myaccount/mypic.gif[/I M G]

    Yoink all the spaces out, give a good http:// link and you're golden

    Take care
