More specifically, it disabled a resource point in Hera's holoroom. And the removed fog in some of the lower tunnels made the place a deathtrap for Skulks once the marines had a clear view of the area. Just something to bear in mind before saying that removing the particles from a map doesn't have any impact on the gameplay. Working for less server strain and faster responsiveness is good, but there is an impact, and there is a price. Issues with Flayra and the mapmakers' opinions aside, tinkering with the maps should not be done lightly.
