Danger: Do videogames teach people how to kill?
Yes. When videogames were linked to the Columbine high school shooters, a frenzy of new research was launched, in which, one team of researchers discovered that first person shooter games do indeed teach gamers with the basic knowledge of how to kill. This research arrived be so conclusive that the U.S. government Army developed a free videogame to be used as a virtual boot camp and killing simulator.
This is sadly true, it was a while ago when I played the first Zelda, ever since than I've been killing Octopuses that walk on land and spit rocks, Pigs with Spears (those are hard to kill though), oh and you can't forget the skeletons. I'm now a criminal.
Please, pass this on to all the Gamers you know! Maybe we can put an end to this stupidity.

Parents looking for someone else to blame other than themselves for badly bringing up a child.
Darn, Nem beat me to it. The info is <a href='http://www.penny-arcade.com/news.php3?date=2002-12-30' target='_blank'>here on PA</a> for anyone who's interested--yes, MAVAV is a complete hoax
That is the website of the guy who made the whole MAVAV thing up.
First, You only have 1 life. There will be no buying between rounds(you should have ordered a hand grenade).
Second, You haven't spent the latter part of 4 years studying in a militant training camp(unless you are Michigan Militia). This can only mean bad things.
Third, You can't use hacks. Aimbot, and wallhacks don't work in real life, unless you count flipping up the blinds to look through windows a wallhack.
This makes many players ineligible, as they had no skill to begin with.
Fourth, guns have kick, and no crosshairs! It's really hard to aim, when you are searching around for those little yellow crosshairs.
Fifth, You get tired. Try running around bunny-hopping sometime, it's tiring! This means you won't be able to fight well.
Sixth, If you get shot, it really, really, really hurts. So, when you try your patent bunny hop to dodge the stream of bullets coming your way, and you get tagged in the leg, you won't keep on walking, then run off. Nope, you'll be screaming on the ground like most people do.
Seven, After you kill your first terrorist(If you manage), running over and putting down your clanspray will take some time. You will be vulnerable during this time, and you will probably be shot. See sixth point.
Eight, As has already been shown, games hardly teach you how to fight properly in combat. The Army released a videogame not to teach children how to fight, but to teach what the Army is all about. You can't just go up to the armourer and pay him $2000 for a para, you have to become qualified to use it, and then be issued the item based on your merit. If the commander thinks you are a crazed psycho, chances are, you are getting it. The game is also supposed to show the moral code by which soldiers are to live by (I think it's kinda lame, but I guess some representation is needed)
Loyalty
Duty
Respect
Selfless Service
Honor
Integrity
Personal Courage
I bet a lot of mom's would want their children to have such a code! Albeit, without the duty-bound part about destroying your enemy (hehe).
And for the Ninth Point and in closing, The ability to kill is taught by several other media, but the methodology is all crap. Those two boys in columbine did a horrible thing, but had they been taught proper tactics, they could have done far worse. Videogames just couldn't teach them all the tactics they needed to do better. Playing Digital Paintball will teach you a little bit about the practices in paintball, but if you go on field, you'll find that the game wasn't very realistic at all, and playing from those learned tactics will get you marked almost everytime.
*Phew!* Well that gets a load off my chest, but Penny Arcade, I would never read it to boring for me, I read MacHall.
You can't complain about campers or awps.
