i just read somewhere that there is a rumor that Half-Life 2 is gonna be an X-box exclusive title. we've already had Halo taken away from us and now this?! what next? i suppose next we are gonna hear that Doom 3 is gonna be taken away from us too and maybe Natural Selection. somebody needs to give Bill Gates a nice beating with an axe please thanks.

    hi, i'm some really official guy and I'm actually starting work on Half Life 3, so don't bother with HL2. HL3 will have limited mod support in that it will only support Natural Selection. I should be finished in a week and I'll post a free download link for all of you here at the NS forums!

    The latest rumour is that Half-Life 2 will simply be a retail edition of SvenCo-op with a misleading package design.
    Oh, and this just in- Half Life 2 will be based on the HL2 engine!

    Seriously, if HL2 is really in the works the most intelligent thing Valve could do is make it compatible with exisiting HL content- still uses .mdl's, .bsp's and .pak's, but all it's perameters upped. That is, huge sound channels and polygon limits (and stability fixes, gah).
    That way, NS and other mods could be ported over with relative ease...

Also, notice that HL has a PC-based community, the game is far from impressive on consoles. One can assume that HL2 will be released on PC first if not simultaneously with the console version. It's a matter of priorities. Halo had no fan base other than Bungie fans. It was able to move to a different system with ease and plays exceedingly well on the XBOX. Would it have gotten as much recognition on the Mac platform? Definetly not.

    Everything I read from individual developers with their work with Microsoft is positive. Everything I read from gamers seems to be negative. Why is this? Are you guys so deluded by the fact that it's a multi-billion dollar company and that it has a powerful, yet understandably "iffy" OS (although I love XP) that you guys ignore the facts?

    if MS buys all those compaines you can kiss goodbye to ever playing those companies' games coz they will all become X-box exclusive and sure MS will say "we are not evil because we will still let the PC versions come out as well" but those PC versions will NEVER come out, you will all just be waiting and waiting and waiting like a bunch of idiots and then you will ask them how come a PC version is not out yet and they will say "oh after much thought we decided to cancel because there was not enough interest in this game to warrant a PC version" and that will be because it is now 10 years after the X-box version came out and the game has become so old and forgotten.

    1) Halo is coming out on PC this year. It is being ported by Gearbox. It will contain some PC exclusives.

    2) HL2 will come out on PC. Bill Gates might hate humanity to the point of founding Microsoft, however he is not stupid. He's well aware that there is a <b>huge</b> amount of intrest for HL2 on the PC, much more than on the XBox.
