<div class="IPBDescription">1 (one)</div>Hey!

Here is a shot of what I've been up to most recently in my level ns_nothing:

<img src="http://tald.readyroom.org/maps/ns/ns_nothing/images/aaatrigger2.jpg" border="0">

Veering away from the hi-tech stuff I was doing last time, this is the west sector of the level. I'm hoping to get a blend of hardcore industrial in with some nice techy stuff. We'll see what happens.

Thanks to the guys who helped me liven this place up in IRC, but it could still probably use some work. Any suggestions?

Oh, and if you hadn't noticed, my main source of inspiration for this level is really starting to show here... cough. <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->

-Edit- On a similar note, <a href="http://tald.readyroom.org" target="_blank">TALD</a> has been updated with a new logo and a rather lengthy update. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    Damn... Ken... cannot thou put up a demo from your map (only two rooms or something) because i -REALLY- want to see this light effect ingame. You can just see its your map just by the AWESOME light effect.

    i tried not to be distracted by the lightning, but there is nothing really i can kritize about. this is perfect. NS will have to wait the release until this map is finished.

    but -seriously- could you release a demo? or do you want to wait with the release of your map and release it in one. I just want to see that ingame.. <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo--> its so beautifull

    I really like (when i say really i mean it) the lighting, the textures, the desing, but for all the pics you,ve showned (if i dindnt miss any) you use the same light in all. I dont really know if last and this picture are all very close to each other but maybe some feet or gound light would help, i see it very scary, xD

    mmmmmm, looking good

    just one question, are you running -extra with RAD? because there is a large stepping effect on your streaks.

    You know what woudl look cool, the part beneath the pipes (with the green computerscreen) to change that in a locker for spacesuits, somewhat like in relics map, but darker suits and bigger helmets, think alien spacesuits, I know it wouldn't fit in, but it would be great with this kind of lighting, I'd make that white strip (lights?) on that pillar like structure to the right somewhat brighter. Also that green screen bugs me a bit,maybe make a green glow come from it, I think this room could benefit from some cleverly placed coloured lights. I don't like the textures you used for the wall where the computer screen is on (the ones with the caution strip on it). I think you have to put soem coloured lighting in (from the screen or somewhere else) but don't make them overpresent, just slight touches of coloured light.

    Ken - as per usual, your map is looking great! I know this is fairly unimportant, but every time I see it, I think those stairs look too steep.

    But overall, I think you've really got awesome architecture in there!

    well...I like it..but it seems a TAD bit too dark..

    Ick... looks kind of blah in a brightly lit room. Glare = teh 3vil.

    There is, in fact, orange accents coming up from the right hand side, and the screen does give off quite a bit of glow. :/

    It should look quite a bit better in a dark lit room.

    About the chop on the pipes... that's mostly due to their shape and the angle of the beam. Pretty much as good as I can get it. I do use -extra as well as a lower chop and texture chop value.

    Spacesuits: I like that idea, but unless someone drops a creepy texture off at my door, I probably won't have the time to go looking for one.

    Stairs: Hehe... Someone else said that too. Seeing it ingame isn't that big of a deal, I think. I guess I could mess around with em though. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    Demos: Well... I'll think about it. I've done something similar before, so *shrugs*... maybe. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    i saw this brown/orange glow, and i like it. I also like the green lights.
    If they werent in then the map would be too repetetive which would spoil the great lightning (ie its all the same).

    i do not like the idea of having spacesuits in, especially not alien, i like it the way it is now...

    Great shot Ken, as usual.  Finish this, dahm you.

    I'm even more excited about the idea of mappers giving out demos of their maps for the purpose of early feedback.  It's hard to let people see your work when you know it has problems, but trust me, it's a good thing.  The feedback will probably be invaluable.  That doesn't mean it has to be public, but you should at least give it out to a handful of people.  It's interesting that you generally only need about three people to get meaningful feedback, anything more then that is redundant (discovered in UI research).

    I say go for it.

    Don't demos require the BSP?

    If that's the case, and people don't want to give out BSPs, I'd be more than happy with a video clip. Even a HyperCammed one.

    you are correct molec, you do need the bsp and shuven it's not alien spacesuits, I'm talking about spacesuits with a similar design as the ones found in the movie alien :/

    Heh, I'm pretty sure that what was being discussed here is not a technical "demo" movie thing... but more like a game demo or something. Just a smallish chopped up bsp. But yeah... I have been considering sending out the entire thing to a few board members here. For more in-depth feedback. We'll see how that goes.

    Go on Ken.  NS_NEXT's betas have been a real help.  Let's see what you've got <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->

    WOW!!! Amazing!! I don't understand the source you mean but...the important thing is the result! <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
    The lightning is always the same but...IT'S WONDERFUL!
    It would be beauty a little more of contrast in colored lights.

    Btw i hear the spectators round here shouting: "Go! Go! Go! Ken!" <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
