Reverted the noise back to how I had it the first time, and added ns_nothing in the background. Heh... is that inappropriate? Adding my own level in there?
I kinda like the punctuation... anyone else? But yeah.. text is choppy. Always is for me.. :/
Wow, I think all of these are amazing. Ken20banks, nothing against your mapping skills but I think your logo looked better with just the black background. I don't really like the way that the flame looks with the map in the background.
well, ill post mine here because it is redundant now anyway (######, forgot about fitting in with colour scheme, coz mainly i only had the choice of screenies for use . . .
Actually, I kinda like the string of lights on Ken's. Are you using Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop? Reason I ask is because PSP has really crappy text support. Black Wolf, I like the way you used your textures in the bg, but I think you could find a better way to add detail to it besides throwing in some models on the sides. Looking good

Actually, I don't use either... "PhotoImpact"... :/
Worse text and feature support than both PS and PSP. I really don't like the text support in it, and you don't even get "layers" in your projects. Fortunately I found a way to do some blending, but yeah...
I like the lights in the background too. A bit too empty before. *shrugs*
Black Wolf: Keep it up! The only thing I don't really like in your submission is the font. Don't know what suggest there, but otherwise it looks great.
All very impressive! I too am amazed at the quantity of true professional talent we see exhibited here!
And wow, Flayra really gets around, doesn't he? That looks like a fairly recent shot of him over in the UK!
erm, what else am i supposed to do? all i really have is model shots . . .
doesnt matter, mine is crap with the curent scheme . . .
im trying to redo it but i have to inspiration (i know the font sucks, my computer stuffed up and i only had verdana to work with . . . i have all these fonts in my windows/fonts directory but they dont show up in any programs =/)
hahaha, that's funny, add a SUYF in there and it would be perfect
*gets half-way through his and comes to check submissions* Crud, well mine is looking somewhat similiar to Fam's already. Oh well, I will finish it out as I intended too, it won't too much the same in the end. Keep up the awesome work guys, I will be happy if mine makes final 3 right now!
well, considering my logo doesnt suit the current readyroom colour scheme, does anyone else want it for their site? just tell me what to change in it . . .
sorry about the 3 posts in a row, but i finally figured out what was bothering me most about it, the infestation wasnt shadowed. (offer is still there for another website's logo)
Man, other mods don't even have a quarter of the talent that we seem to have in our community. I haven't seen a bad logo yet. Even Sythe's logo totally kicks
Supernova: Nice and high tech. Maybe bring out the pistol a little so it doesn't fade into the background so much.
Fam: Very nice. I like the red tint to it. I like some of the extra details in your second version, but I think I like the first version better. the text is much more readable and clear, and all the visual elements aren't competing for attention as much. Oh yeah, and nice photoshop job on that last logo, heh.
Ken: What is it with you and pink? I'm beginning to wonder about you Anyway, I think I like your first version without the background better. The 2d and the 3d don't seem to mix very well, and those lights look they are floating and they distract too much from the text and the rest of the image. Maybe ease back on the pink cloud /flame a bit, and maybe transition it into another subtle color or something. Its a bit too much pink right now.
Doctopepa: Really nice. Very clean, readable, and visually pleasing. Maybe add a subtle glow to the frame, with a bright spot over on the right bottom corner. That way it would bring in elements of the large orange hive part over to the right side of the logo and balance out the image a bit. Does that make any sense?
Black wolf: That looks cool. I would suggest blending the infestation more into the background around the edges. Also, keep it darker like in the last version, but lighten up the alien back to how it was in the earlier versions, so it will stand out against the infestation. Maybe use a different texture for the side border strips, one with a little less detail, to make the borders a little less in your face.
Scythe: Beautiful! Very visually complex, full of superb and stimulating details that keep the viewer entranced. The composition is fantastic, the motion of the characters conveys the epic quality of the two combatants as they battle for their lives. Pure genius.
Oh, and the cockroach looking bob is soooo cute.
All of these logos should definately be put to other uses if they don't make it onto the readyroom site.

mmmm nice ideas, im a bit of a n00b to photoshop (this is about the 1st complete image ive done in it, and about the 3rd time ive opened it up) so your suggestions are really helpfull. I'll definitely do the things you said, but maybe in the morning. To put this in perspective, its 12:15 am here in melb Australia, ive been off school for Anzac day since Tuesday, and ive slept 5 hours since Wednesday morning 6:30am.
Lets see, thats 12 + 6 + 24 + 24 = 66 hours
in 66 hours i have slept 5 hours =/ bedtime for me (ive got hockey in like 6 hours)

- I really love your logo, Ken, but I don't think you should have brackets around 'the natural choice'... It would also be neat if you could find a way to make your text less choppy, as 'bozo suggested. I don't know, maybe the one with the black background would be best, though I think it's cool having a map in the background. Problem is that it seems like 'the pink part' is far away from the map.
- I can't really decide which of your logos looks best, Fam. I think the second one is really cool and caotic, but seems like not everyone likes caotic. I spent more time looking at the second one than the first one.
My only suggestion (to some of you), is to try and make the image show both a Marine and Alien team aspect. The reason the old logo didn't have both was there wasn't any real Alien art available at the time...

And stealing Ken's idea, as part of the site.
<edit> For some reason this compression has changed the colour of the rr.org background, youll just have to imagine that it isnt a nice shade of purple. </edit>

Thanks for the awesome feedback everyone! I'm going to start over with the same concept in mind. During map compiles, that is.
Well heres my attempt I was wearing red sunglasses when i did this =p VERY RED! I would hate to be the guy who had to decide which to use, cuz so far theyre all really good! After we get a few more submissions, someone should re-post just the pics with the authors name and do a poll to make Mon Evils descision a little easier...after all were the ones who will be lookin at it 50 times a day PS. That's great!
One thing though: Try adding some white into the mix there. Perhaps in the font. It would match the page perfectly that way.
Ok. following the trend... And yeah, it's a bit weird with a hive in the readyroom but it just LOOKs SO GOOD!
