"Computer Gaming World"
Here's what they had to say:
Just when we thought the Half-Life engine couldn't be pushed any further, along comes Natural Selection. Although the theme of pitting a team of well-equipped marines against bloodthirsty aliens is a rip-off, Natural Selection has plenty of surprises. It combines an intense shooter with an equally intense RTS, implementing a resource model for building units and equipment and giving one marine the role of commander. Commaners view the action from overhead, doling out resources and giving orders, so the other marines can deal with the biggest threats. The aliens have the ability to evolve into a different type of unit--provided there's enough time and resources.
Sorry, but I don't have a scanner with me. It only showed one tiny pic anyway

do you think it deserves it? I do. I think it deserves every bit of it and more
It's great recognition, but I think that this could have been worded a little bit nicer-- maybe saying it's an overused cliché or something-- to me, rip off means it's swiping from one easily identifiable entity, whereas NS's notable influences are well over a dozen.
Other than that, cool.
Oh yes it has

UK PCG mind, but no less an achievement.
I subscribe to computer games magazine (formerly CGS+). i don't know, it just seems to me like it's alot more professional.
