It wasn't a special effect, that damn thing is real. Though the actual 'driving compartment' is even further back than shown, in reality the person 'in view' wasn't driving, because it really does take weeks and weeks of training to be able to use one.
This is really really awesome. Great job, m?lady.
thank you for that info ive seen some very interresting set pics where ucan see that the powerloader is actually mounted on the tip of an bucket excavator,in the queen fight scene ,where ripley moves out of the loaderhangar u cant see the heavy equipment behind the loader, cause theres to much haze..and.. the antennas are fakes, they just covering some cables that are hangin from the ceiling,to stabilize the loader
That is certainly the ubersecks. As with catarina, women make the best models. And units like the powerloader are extremely difficult to operate. Ive used a mechanical loader arm a few times and it takes 3 joysticks for one arm.
daphisto finish the model....it looks much cooler then my concept, check it out Daphistos Malice
im just bored all the day
so exactly WHEN are we gonna be downloading this cause u guys keep saying its finished..so yeah.. O.o
ya great model...but do you know how bad it's gonna look inside a vent?
its not finished.. and i fear my version never gets finished..cause i have no clue about compiling...ar animating... ive given the alice model to daphisto.. he will finish it....
the malice looks in the vent like the normal heavy armor..it got the same size.. i mean its all inside the hitboxes.. btw..crawling trough vents with heavyarmor isnt very sexy... shooting with a fade pilebombs in a vent where a stupid heavy armor dood is in, is sexy...
ok again.. i cant finish that model, the existing model is just a concept ,very messy, very high pk, and not optimized for animation.. if someone wants to make a model out of my idea its ok cause i want it too daphistos version is cool too...it got some logical errors...buts a very good layout.. i like the idea with the free hand...this way the armor wearer can operate switches and stuff...maybe the arm needs a little bit armor
I'm going to make a yellow reskin when it comes out though, to look like the powerloader
And I had no idea that the one in aliens was real, i just thought it was a big hunk of plastic light enough to be moved by the actor, lol!
actually it was so heavy they needet hydraulic actuators to move it.... and the whole construction was mounted on the tip of an excavator instead of the shovel... the whole thing was additionaly stabilized with cables from the ceiling (maybe a crane) the scenes where you only can see the upper body and backside, but not the feets are done with the powerloader fixed on a rotatin plattform.. in another scene they use a different powerloader without feets, the loader hangs with cables from the ceiling...in the poweloader self was another actor controling the arms .. i got a nice screenshot where u can see the feets of thesecond actor the scenes where u see the whole thing from the side walking are stop motion effects with models..
Lol, that's pretty funny, although I am kinda sad that they dont actually exist. It was always a dream of mine to own one, or at least a working prop
lol why do you want to have a working prop? even the non workin powerloader is amazin
If you need someone to compile it, send it to me. I can put it on the HA skeleton and animations, although it might have to wait till the end of the week, depending on what i have to do for class. If you want to, post here and ill PM you my email.
