I was wondering the colored messages that clan mod/admin mod work on NS. I have clan mod right now and i can't get it to work. Is their a CVAR i need to set or something? Or is their a substitue of some kind? Thanks for your time
The client will have to have cl_autohelp on for this to work. Obviously, most of us don't have that on .
Maybe a change is in for 1.1?
the tsays, csays, and other colorful and fun messages like tohse from admin_mod and clanmod are translated by NS into cl_autohelp display messages. i am not exactly sure if there is a way to do them like in CS/DoD/etc.

well, having messed with the colored messages myself with spidermonkey I can see why they translated the text. If I remember correctly there is a limit of like 3-4 colored & positioned messages on the screen at any given time. And seeing as how hive sight uses up most of those "channels" for the aliens it makes sense that they convert them all to those tooltip messages. The only flaw is that most people still don't see them if they take cl_autohelp off.
But oh well, I'm still pretty sure that the non-colored text can be placed anywhere.
since i have direct access to my server, i added a script for AM that adds commands like "admin_tsaymode" and "admin_rconmode". rconmode is what i use now instead of tsay mode since people like to turn cl_autohelp off
hmmm, i don't mind the boxes, i just with they'd make it so EVERYONE sees it not just auto help people... i hope they make it so thanks guys
I'm sure someone could program a MM for this that would either A) allow people with autohelp off to see it, or B) allow you to make ones like it in different locations or ones like the csays and such of other mods...
NS will never have csay messages like other mods have As far as Flayra has told me, i do strongly suggest he put in the normal csay message for the clients as well as the boxed ones since those are really nice... but i would like to be able to control where they are put with x,y cords.
But he said he would add the message system to work without cl_autohelp needing to be on. MetaMod plugins (or any serverside plugin) cant add the normal csay messages for the simple fact that those messages were modified/taken out in the client.

well, if I can't get my csays to work, I'll talk to you...though I like the NS style of dropping it down the screen at the user, with the ping sound to alert them to it...and the coloured tooltip boxes, if someone made a proggy (AM Plugin or MM plugin) that would display those boxes in places, regardless of cl_autohelp, that'd be bomb

(rconmode displays just like an rcon say command)
