Okay so basically he came in spamming message... banned him for that as it's strictly enforced.
Then he changed cd-keys or got someone else to come in and spam the server causing everyone to overflow. Banned again. End of story.

Please send me his IP address over PM, or in this thread, because I want to add him to my listip.cfg file (his subnet anyway), because as we can all tell banning him by his WONID is not going to work.

It's from BTOpenworld (One of the biggest UK ADSL suppliers) and I believe they're allocated dynamically <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

Unless you block BTO totally but that would exclude a large proportion of UK gamers.

That's why I'll ban the entire subnet range (217.39.19.0). If that make some good old lads in the UK can't join my server, then so be it. I'd much rather have that happen than having this guy join my server.

No, but enuff emails from Admins to BTO complaining about that client trying to crash servers and his ADSL might be cancelled. Guess it all depends on how BTO looks at such things.

Not that harsh really. Most Brit players are gonna want to play where they get a good ping(just like everyone else). Hastezone being in N. America isnt going to give them the best of pings. Most likely most Brit NS players wont be playing on Hastezone. It would be like if my ip subnet was banned(I live in the US/Washington State) on a Brit server I wouldnt really care. Why? because I never play on Brit servers because I ping to high on them. No big deal.

BTO may be popular, but thats because a) people don't know any better, and b) BT own most of the copper wiring in britain afaik, and so have a monopoly on it.

Their customer support is utter crap. You can try contacting them, by all means, see if they do anything, I just doubt they will <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

The are many versions of "grep for windows" floating about. Can't recall the name of the package, but there was at least one good "Unix utilities for Windows" one that had ls, grep, find, and a bunch of other useful CLI tools.
