Fallout

Best RPG ever...agreed?
Hi, I'm Evil Timmy, and I'm a shameless Fallout fanboy.

I don't go spamming everywhere about it, but I'm always thinking about it. Earlier today, I called the marine's pistol a .223 pistol. Skulks bring a tear to my eye, as I can't help thinking about poor Dogmeat, who bit it in the Sierra Army Depot. I consider Fallout to be the untouchable god of RPGs, and I'm always disappointed because every new game that comes out isn't nearly as good. I have a blue t-shirt with a 13 on the back of it. So, all you other Fallout junkies...what's your name?

(If you're an unwashed heathen, you can grab the Fallout 1 and 2 dual jewel for ten bucks almost anywhere. An insanely good deal, if you ask me.)

I personally liked fallout 2 over fallout, but the fallout series is definitely my favorite PC RPG's. However, if we are talking about hybrid games, Shock 2 and Deus Ex take the cake.

    I've played the demo!

    Yeah... It was fun though!

Stole the words directly out of my mouth. I've played other RPG's of course, and real-time combat has it's benefits. But Fallout: Tactics didn't have the magic of the "real" fallout games, and no regular RPG has even touched the fallout games in quality since their release.

I'm 3 hours of gameplay into Morrowind: The Elder Scrolls III as we speak; I've heard it's one of the best RPG's this year (other is Neverwinter Nights) but I'll have to see if either is as good as I want it to be.

/me continues to await the release of Fallout 3. In a completed state.

Never tried fallout, but I might have to now. I'm a NWN junkie for now.

The in my opinion best RPGs of all time are (in that order) Deus Ex, Chrono Trigger, and Fallout 2 (with Planescape and BG2 on the ranks).

From the atmosphere, Fallout is easily the best.

Don't touch Fallout unless you want to lose all interest in NWN

Wow? That good? NWN made me lose interest in WC3 for a time, so I'll just wait a bit.

Fallout 2 was my favorite RPG ever. I must have played through that entire game 3 or 4 times. The humor alone is reason enough.

Planescape: Torment ranks as my highest rated RPG of all time with Fallout 2 then Fallout 1.

I never really got into RPGs, but Planescape: Torment is my first, followed by Fallout 1. I never played Fallout 2 enough, I got busy with other things.

Deus Ex is my fav game of all time though, it's sorta an RPG/FPS hybrid, so if hybrids are allowed in the mix, DX is #1.

Baldurs Gate? Not being mentioned yet, I assume it's not that good compared to any of the other games mentioned here. I'm playing it now, and it's a lot better than the last RPG I played. ........diablo 2........ Dues Ex was awesome possum though.

played diablo 2 online for a long while.... i remember when 1 SOJ was worth a first born child

Fallout 2 was the same but lots and lots more. And some annoyances removed, so it really was the better one. Best thing about it... not a bloody wizzard in sight. Very refreshing in a RPG.

I want to see a proper fallout 3 without realtime combat, but improved turnbased combat and more wizzard free RPG fun!

Did anyone play Jagged Alliance 2? Had a wonderful turnbased combat system. Bunch of mercenaries taking on some evil dictator on some farflung island.

And how abot Xcom - Enemy unknown? Anyone here old enough to remember that one?

Wonderful game. I paid just $15 to a Babbages (in my area, a more expensive computer/video game store) and got X-Com 1, 2, AND 3 with a poster for X-Com Alliance that says it'll require Windows 95 and will be released before 2000 (I forget the exact year it says, I'll have to bring it out of storage).

X-Com was a good game. But tough to get money without micromanaging, and not an RPG.
/me goes back to fantasizing about the completion of Fallout 3

my favorite character was the 10+ Lucky guy who got abducted by the evil aliens... Or saw Jurassic Super-Mutant, or watched random people bite it. It was fun, with all those humorous(sp?) random encounters.

Played the first Fallout for a bit an absolute AGE ago but I wasn't really into RPGs back then, at teh moment morrowind is sucking away many hours of my soul into the abyss of PC Gamers Hell.

I may have to go snaffle the Fallouts

Oh god. Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 are classics, but can get hard at points, enough that theres been times were I've left it for several days to calm down. FF7 was just....beautiful, but its the only one of the series I've played. definetly Deus Ex if it counts. Waiting for NWN to get passed down to me from my bro

Chrono Trigger is an AMAZING game, way beyond its time. Old SNES Game, But its still owns most of the other RPG's out there. I've never tried Fallout, maybe ill take a look sometime.
