Christmas Attrition

Only the hard-core will remain
Now that Xmas has showered a majority of NS players with fancy and expensive new games, I'm willing to bet that a lot of people will forget about lame old mods. Which means only the really good, or really poor, will still play! Time to ring in a glorious era of fewer llamas and lamers! Does this sound likely to anyone else?

Admittedly, a friend finnaly bought GTA3 for Christmas and he's often playing that at night rather than NS... but it won't last
*blinks*
You mean people get fancy games as PRESENTS?!
I mean, lets play something where skill, not just shooting a person in the head with a clumpsy X-BOX controller before they hit the alarm.

Umm, don't ever start dissing another game in here, ever. Just because you favor one game over the other doesn't mean it totally sucks. Splinter Cell is an awesome game, and don't ever try and bad mouth it. People can say the same thing about NS "oh yah go cap nodes and get to hives before marines then win big deal" - See how pathetic that sounds? NS is nothing like that, just like splinter cell is nothing how you described it.
SimCity 4 will steal some of my time, as will Generals and Unreal 2. I might try Battlefield 1942 again, especially after the expansion, though I think I'll wander back to NS and TFC again
TFC... heh, haven't played that in a few weeks now.
StarCraft... Need I say anything?
pfft, you fool, my medics pwn j00 mart.
No seriously, funny you should mention SC, since I just dusted it off and reinstalled it. I still had my cdkey memorized, though. I was scared.
But it would be cool if all the lamers got new games and left NS.
EDIT: Except Project Ego! AKA Fable. Those guys come up with the most coolest ideas...
I played UT2k3
and so on and on...
none of them, NONE of them, have the near player base of a potential half life mod like natural selection. It's catching up to the likes of both of these games, and it's... cough... free. If the bugs are fixed, we can see alot of cs/tfc/dod players moving to it. Competition will be huge.
I don't play games for "graphics", sure they're nice, but if they do the job whats behind it is more important.
UT2k3 is a remake of UT, nice gfx, but it's been done a million times before.... bf1942... they've lost there chance at this being a big thing, the thousands that bought the game have quickly left it realising how buggy it is, and still is. The netcode is a mess, even delay between players is very noticable on a LAN, no way is shooting "precision", sure shooting tanks the size of an ant on your screen takes some doing, but I picked it up in a couple months, first shot, hit every time...
yawn.

Well, I believe he is talking about gameplay, replay and all combined. The fact that you are 1 man pretty much striving to save the world as is with alot of 3rd person shooters. Compared to 30 guys using teamwork, screaming at each other through a mic, and being able to be told to F-Off in a game kind of makes a game interesting. A game such as splinter cell has a main plot, and can only follow that plost. where in NS, you make the game, your team decides the outcome.
Hows that for bias?
I've got pleanty of time to get into Metroid (and I have pleanty of Electronics Boutique gift cards to spend) but for now, it's easy to forget about it because NS is teh best thing evar.

LOL! about 2 weeks after NS came out I reinstalled Starcraft myself! now I rotate between the two.
It really bumms me out when I go back to NS and I start clicking marines as commander and they don?t say anything humorous....

I've got GTA Vice City for the PS2. An uttergloss game if I ever saw one. had a real hard contest with NS for my time. But at some point GTAVC ends, and NS is still there. I do believe S?mCity 4 will suck me into the void for a small time, though. Am an absolute sucker for these games.
