I would really really really like a 'clear all waypoints' button.

And something that tells everybody their waypoints have been cleared.

Of course I could just send them all to an IP.

adding to this post... i think the following changes should also be made

a button u can press to click each unit.. like in WAR3

where u pres shift to click on the unist u want to select and deselect.. instead of always having to "box" them all... it takes WAY too much time tryin to chase them all..

yeah and how DO u open doors and press buttons?

I know you can open some doors simply by double clicking on them.

I've found that this only works from a certain angle, usually straight above and slightly to the left of the door you want to open/close.

All of the 'select all' and 'select one at a time' have all been brought up *hundreds* of times before. The select all will be in an upcoming patch, but the HL engine is unable to work with subgroups as in RTS games because it doesn't allow 2 button hotkeys (like CTRL+1, for example).

And on the doors and buttons that you can open, you get an image of a hand over a keypad. Clicking will use them. You can't use every door though.

is there a list somewhere of all the commands for com/marine/alien?

the only ones i know are in the kb_act.lst

and was it intentional to not be able to script any of these hotkeys into aliases?

Technically, this is correct, but there are ways around it. When I played CS ages ago, I made a quick-buy script where I simply held down ALT or CTRL and it loaded up a different Config file. let go of it and another config file was executed to load the original settings.

I've included the script to show how it'd work, it's been a loooong time since I've played around with scripting in HL, just started playing again due to this game, so my memory here may not be 100% correct, but here goes.

chainsawscript.cfg is the guts of the script, it has all the aliases for doing the actual commands, etc. it has two lists of commands, toggles and hold buttons. if you want to bind either to a button, you do not include + or -.

for example, to bind buying to ALT and CTRL...
    bind ALT buypri
    bind CTRL buysec

Oh, and the bomb count-down sounds are not included, those were meticulously timed wav files but I can't seem to find them. *shrug*

Well, I'm not going to ramble on more, but it's perfectly possible to do it.

Well, technically that is a way around it, but it really doesn't need to be done if there is an all character select, it really doesn't need to be done with half competant marines, basically you can say "Go ***********" and they will go right to it, no waypoint necessary, of course, it seems to most people playing marines that the commander is never talking to them.

In the minimap on the comm menu, any area that shows up as yellow is useable by the commander. I've found that actually clicking on the door, elevator, etc is what activates them, not the switch that the marines normally use.

what K'Ragg is talking about, is a meta bind.

    +command "bind buttona command1" //pressing the button
-command "bind buttona command2" //releasing the button

i dont see any way that this could transfer over into the half-life engine.
i'd still like a list for all the hotkeys....

I never said it transfers over, I said what I did allows you to make ALT+1 CTRL+1 and 1 different keys. It's a work-around, a hack if you will. As for it transfering to the half-life engine, you should be able to pull a similar hack in the code.

the work-around wouldnt work for ns in anyway.
its not actually doing the alt+1, ctrl+1.
what its really doing is pressing a button, and rebinding other buttons.
unless theres going to be a hot key which allows you to "bind" players to buttons,
this really wont work with ns.

I don't know if this would be any more feasable, but coding it so that clicking on a marine will add him to your current group, then make a toggle key to switch between that mode and the current mode, so you'd get the effect of CTRL+click (I think HL does recognize the mouse inputs as seperate from just another button named MOUSE1, as it captures the mouse for vgui menus, and the commander interface well enough).

Bindable console commands for the Natural Selection mod as figured out by Rabid Llama.
Update: See farther down for bindable Commander menu commands.
Update: See below those for the bindable weapon names for aliens and marines

These might not be totally correct, but I've gone through and tested most of them (which is how I found most of them in the first place)
A question mark means it acts like it should do something, but doesn't (nothing happens, but there's a pause there where it seems like something could go)
A "<nothing>" means that there's a little doesn't-work beep sound when you try it, which means it does nothing at all.
    For an example, compare impulse 18 (a ?) and 19 (a <nothing>)
So here you go. No spamming these as binds, by the way <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Impulse commands: (mostly radio communications/spoken word)
(add an "impulse " to the beginning of all of these for them to work)
(also, the Marines and Aliens have different functions attached to the same commands. It should be pretty self-explanatory)

    --Marine Commander commands--
(Should be very useful for commander keybinds, aliases, etc.)
(Not TOTALLY complete -- it has all build menu functions, and "recycle building", but no upgrade buttons, as those would be very difficult to find. The pitfalls of trial and error.)

Important Note: To build a structure/item, the proper menu must be open that contains it (Equip for Health, for example)

Important Note 2: In order to use the commander commands, you must be sitting IN the command console. Also, the commands MUST be bound to a key to work -- they don't seem to work by typing them in console (which is slower than clicking anyway). Make a quick bind or two (or 24), and you're set to go.

I plan on adding some extra commander niceties for v1.1 including player/building hotgroups, a next player button, and probably a few more things (none of these are set in stone, but they are tentatively planned). v1.1 will make a big step forward in the overall gameplay and balance side of things too (though I can't announce this stuff yet).
