Maybe "gooped out" would have been a better term, from what Hammer said, though I don't really notice the goop on them... That bottom one was made as a skin for CS [I recognize it because it's based on the DoD Tommy, which it should be as the real one was built off a M1A1]. I don't recognize the top one.

Xanieth's right, actually. It's the equivalent of the N word referring to blacks. People are more careful about saying that one too casually nowadays because there are so many blacks around who'll break your face if you say it in front of them. Just because the South Vietnamese army referred to the North Vietnamese army as "gooks," doesn't mean it's any less of a derogatory term. Yes, historically, lots of American soldiers used the term. Lots of them used the N word too. Doesn't mean we should take it lightly.

Argue your right to use derogatory terms all you like, here, where nobody's going to break your face for it. Won't mean anything.

The best way to act on-line is as if you were face-to-face with people, because you want them to act that way to you. Otherwise, everyone gets superiority complexes and it all falls apart.

Screw arguing about it. Would you go up to a black man and call him the N word to his face? Not without your pack of pals, I don't think. Anyone who thinks they're better here because they're behind a screen is lacking something that's supposed to make them human. A problem that's rampant on-line.

I agree. I found the term distasteful as well. I think "racist" is an overused term, I would however say it was insensitive and ignorant (meaning that Duo Maxwell was unaware of the racial connotations, not meaning that he is mentally deficient). There is far too much racial slurs on the pubs without any thought about it, it seems. Everyone is the N word, gooks, crackers, gh3y ... we just banned someone from our server the other day because he kept saying people were "jewing him." Lets have a little more mature and respectful of a community than CS, shall we?

I highly doubt Duo was referring to the racial slur, anyway. Yes, the word, when intended as a slur, is offensive, but it wasn't. He meant it in the sense of "goop" and may well have just been a typo he left. Maybe he's not even English. Jumping to conclusions about anyone's racial intentions isn't very helpful.

Try seeing it from Duo's perspective before calling him racist, please. Or anyone, for that matter.

Anyway, about the pulse rifles.. You should work on skinning. There are some good tutorials on how to skin metal and wood at www.dayofdefeatmod.com in the Models forum. With a bit of practice I'm sure you'll get good.

look, guys, just calm down a bit (BOTH SIDES)

it was an honest mistake to think he ment it as a slur (there are other ones like that, for instance "jewed")

the reason why he thought it was a slur was b/c the bigotry of the HL comunity is rather on the high side, as well as not being able to see the skin (thus not getting that it was suposed to be b/c the skin was gooped up)

all of this was a mistake, alot of flames were thrown, alot of people were insesitive (I still think 'grow thiker skin' coments jsut aint right, alot of people have to deal with this bleep every day and thus have every right to **obscenity** down some one who uses slurs)

The gun doesnt look all to different except for a few white areas on it... Kinda makes it look dented or color is fading away from alien acid bombs. Also the rest of the skin kinda looks bland to me, but hey, it may be just me.
