Odd Lag For Me Only

Only on some servers
I dont know, on some servers it happens never, some rarely, and some frequently. I'll be running around as a skulk or lerk, what not. And I will become stuck and the screen jiggles to and fro, like how you would see when walking into a res nozzle to chew on it. And I cant move for approx 3-4 seconds, and then Im fine. But everyone around me moves fine, marines still shoot me fine, I see teammates run by fine, etc. My friend next to me seen it and said that I just run in place, then start again.
I have an amd 1.3ghz, 128 ram, dsl connection, on last server in particular, a 30 ping. No other mods do this, I have no standard lag. Just this lil thing is weirding me out and no one else in the servers claim to experience it.

I dont know what to tell you. I'd suggest doing the good 'ole scandisk and defrag. also update video, sound and/or mobo drivers if they arnt updated already. if it still happens, try comlpetly uninstalling (and deleating) HL and the HL dir. then reinstall, patch, and try again.

Im beginning to think its map related.
I get it like crazy on ns_nancy, but very rarely on nothing.

I get a similar thing on both my pc's.

On pc1, on some(and only some!) maps every few minutes I lose my controls and if for example I was pressing forward when I lose them, I continue to go forward, it's like my ping is spiking massively although netgraph never says it does.

On pc2, every few seconds the above happens but only for a fraction of a second, it makes aiming impossible and walking very difficult.

pc1:
Slot A Athlon 900
256mb pc100 ram
gf2 mx
soundblaster 512pci

pc2:
Athlon xp 1800+
512mb ddr
gf4 ti4400
onboard sound chip

Notice an 8 month pause in this.
Well, as of 2.0, its back.
So I assume it might be a config setting or some such.
Because I think the original problem fell on 1.03, and 1.04 was perfectly fine.
Now I have it all over again.

Again, occasionally pauses of 2-3 seconds, screen wiggles with lag.
I get frozen in place but others see me in place. Same applies if I was airborne, Ill still hover or float in midair, then drop. Ive noticed seems to happen a little more often if im moving fast. Like lerk flying or Fade blinking. Yet I dont recall any problems as a slow **** onos.
But I did lag when I used charge for moving around the map.

Anyone have a default config.cfg file from 1.04? Hopefully theres just something in there that needs to be modified.

me stares

you say your buddy saw you model freez? Has any one seen you freez in mid air?

BTW this list of problems probably are NOT related (they don't sound like it at all)

but if some one sees you freez then that is 100% network stuff and NOTHING else (no way it could)

Alright sorry that this is long. . . .

Hmmm I am in an almost constant state of lagging- word to the wise wireless is not the way to go! I get "stuck in the floor" is how it seems or like you say you “can't move for a few seconds”. There are two different kinds of times that I have noticed this. I’m not sure which kind of either you are talking about, it almost sounds like a combination of both…..

Lag type 1: At the one LAN party I've been to (not at my house, but using my regular computer), there were 5-6 of us using the same cable connection on the same server, at the same time, our pings were 6000. This was the weirdest lag I had ever experienced. I would lag and it'd be very strange, I would be stationary but could see everything happening around me like I was a third person observer. People would just walk by or kill me depending on what team they were on. Then after I had been killed, I would still be in the same spot, but my view would be as if I had been buried, half of my body would be above the ground, half below. Those were really long lag spikes and that was weird stuff. I'm not sure if that was what you are talking about or the next thing is what you are talking about, but the reason for that lag was too many of us using the same LAN connection, on the same server. When we all played at different places or just two of us on the same server then it was ok, but we found to make a server for the party was the best idea.

ok now....

Lag type 2: This is what happened to me almost everyday that I played 1.04 ns. This is something that happens at my house with my wireless Internet connection, btw my computer and video card rock so those are not the issue. Ok, sometimes when I lag, I get temporarily stuck in the floor. By this I mean, walking around, lag like normal (my computer freezes, everyone around me freezes, and I typically come back in dead). Sometimes though if I am not somewhere with opponents, or the person shooting at me has bad aim, and I don’t die, then I’ll get the sensation of being “stuck in the floor.” My view is normal, not like I’m buried or below the ground in anyway, I will just be stuck in place not able to move. (I like to compare this to having bubble gum stuck to the bottom of your shoe, you pick up your shoe and realize that something is attached to it, you then pull it up and then back down a few times, until you are free.) Normally when this happens a few “/stuck” ‘s will unstick me, or if I keep on trying to move forward and jump that sometimes works too. (BTW- when I say I use /stuck I don't mean that I got stuck in a hole or something, this happens at wide open places just in the floor.) That is what happens when I “lag like normal.” By that I mean that is something that happens after almost every lag spike. I have yet to find out why this happens, if this is what you are talking about I hope my explanation was clear and someone will be able to assist you with your lag problems, because I know that wierd lag issues on top of regular lag is just not fun to deal with . Have a nice day.

p.s. I am very sleepy so I hope this makes sense.
