Are there any?
I personally loathe being COM on this map. To me it has no reasonable structure in its' layout, and I feel very unsure about what to do. The problems in my opinion are:
- Hives. The two accessible ones (sewer and generator) don't have a resource node in the same room. This means that they are "useless" in themself. Usually I set up defense at the RT that is closeest to it, and build a Siege Turret to keep them from getting the hive up. Still, for some reson people don't understand this and always yell at me to defend the hive.
- Resources. Almost all the nodes are in cramped up spaces that are suited better for alien defensive structures then marine ones.
- Layout. There seem to be no obvious key places to hold, and the map is pretty "linear". It also has vents connecting almost everything, making it easy for aliens to get around, and hard for marines to block off access.
So far the most successful tactic for me has been to rush to sewer vestibule and immediatly set up a phase gate and TF outside sewer hive, then siege it, but that only works if the aliens actually start there. Other then that I you are usually stuck trying to defend two (at the most) hives with too few resources coming in. Maybe the map just doesn't suit me (well... d'oh), does anyone have any good ideas for it?

Give the best marine a welder.Sent him out in a large group to sewer sublevel.Weld the vent, secure the RT.Move to pumping station 02.Secure RT.Secure sewer.Weld the fence leading to vent hive.Move in.Get seiges if needed.Secure vent hive.If thats the only hive, you win.If its not,its a simple matter of securing every res node in the map and watching HA/Hmg guys own skulks.
Variables not accounted for in that strategy, including but not limited to : number of wannabee rambos.the skill of the alien players.lerks **obscenity** turrets off at the hives.lag that lets 1 skulk take out 6 marines because the skulk teleports all over the place.number of idiots sitting in base whining for stuff and not going to the waypoints.number of people who cannot understand english.
Try my Guide to ns_caged.
If you can deny them both these hives they'll be stuck in skulks and you win.
My preferance is to run streight to sewer and hold pumping 02 if they don't have it and vestible if they do, get up a siege irrespective of if they hold the hive or not.
Move to ventillation through the weldable door thingie and capture it (siege or otherwise) then set up a base inside there, hell relocate your intire base if it makes you feel better. At this point you hold two hives and some res nodes, its irrelivent how many res nodes you hold keep your marines in with wealders and tell them to sit 1 person in each hive and the rest cycle through the phase gates.
Put up a million and 1 turrets, do whatever you like eventually you will get HA/HMG the aliens will still be skulks/lurks walk 5 marines accross the map with a grenade launcher to clear walls of lame blow up genorator hive.
The problems are its tempting to go for genorator hive but susiidal if you don't also get sewers hive, that and the second you hold two hives and start giving people complex orders like (hold in these hives and cycle through the gates to keep them secure) they'll imidiately go 'com we need more res points i'm going to find them' or 'com i'm going to scout out the last hive' or 'com i'm going to go find gorges'.
When its completly irrelivent, you hold two hives you should just sit back and await full upgrades and HA/HMG.
*sigh*

Very extensive guide there Flatline, I remember skimming through it weeks ago but I forgot it was about ns_caged
