C'mon...
On TV they can say the following:
The slang word for butt
The term for a child without a father
The term for a female dog
but yet, **obscenity**, **obscenity**, and **obscenity** are all "obscenities" on this and many other forums out there, and I cant help but wonder why...Even on certain counter-strike server, they have "bad word" filters.
Here is the best reason that i can think of. Sometimes there could be children viewing the website (or playing the game) and that type of language to a child is not appropriate. That is true, but if this child is involved in a community where marines have to shoot invading aliens with shotguns, heavy machine guns, and take out buildings with siege cannons...or they have to buy realistic weapons and plant c4, or aim for terrorists heads, I dont think hearing slang is on the same scale.
Here is how I think it should be. The user should have an option wether or not to turn "bad word filters" on or off. In EverQuest you could simply type /filter off and $%^& would turn into the actual word. I myself am 19 years old, and i think its pretty stupid to filter minor slang.
The only word I agree with being filtered is the F word. And even then, you should still have some sort of option to filter it or not. I mean DUDE, look on the left side of your screen as you reply to this. There is a gif of a dude shooting a gun! But dodging the filter....ohhhhh, thats big **obscenity** now!

It is not aimed in any way at juvelines - impressable children shouldn't play the game this forum fucuses on at all.
Accept that the filter is there, was there, and will stay there as long as the owner of these boards - Flayra - deems them necessary. If you don't like it - tough luck.
You are allowed to use up to 2 tame swear words in anything deemed by the governing body of such a board to be suitable, only after 6pm. After the 9pm watershed, you must still abide by the standards of taste and decency, as applicable by the governing body. Any disagreements or complaints against said program mean that the program in question can be withdrawn from the listings.
Sounds similar to ones you are used to?
On these international forums, its always before 6pm somewhere. And as a 'governing body' in charge of taste and decency, I happen to not like them at all. Any complaints, and the member in question can be 'withdrawn' from the forums. Simple as that.
