Play without VR launching?

I uninstalled this game a while back because of the inability to launch it in non-VR mode with my Vive hooked to my computer. I am thinking of trying it again, but only if they have fixed this issue. so, is it possible to launch this game yet without it automatically trying to load the VR version? I got the game directly through the launcher, not Steam, so using the Steam workaround will not work for me.
