1) Can I turn off the automapcycle but still have it countdown for my other plugins? like I want it to count down but then I want a random map to be loaded be plugin instead of the server loading one from the mapcycle.txt

2) What's the status with the HLTV?

3) Is there anyway to get the first person view while roaming in NS? It's the only sure way to catch cheaters nowadays.. and I REALLLY, REALLLY, REALLLY, REALLLY, REALLLY, REALLLY, REALLLY, REALLLY miss it!!!

4) What the heck happened to the forums.. why were they down so long?

Ok.. talk to all you peeps later.

    1) Right now most plugins dont support the timing system NS uses, because the internal timer actually stops when a round begins. So, until the plugins calculate this properly, youll have to use the mapcycle.

    2) HLTV hasnt been fully implemented yet, it "works" but it doesnt fully render all entities ont he client, no set date on when this will be completely finished.

    3) You cant as it hasnt been coded in yet, and VAC hasnt been implemented yet, so I guess you really cant bother to "try" catching cheaters.

    4) Their MySQL server effectively was overloaded, it happens when you have so many connections at once, it eats up so much memory. Poor server =( MonsE is taking a "break" from managing the website actively too, so he never got around to it right away. Don't worry now, all is well in the land of NS

    That should answer your Q's

The sessions table in the database became overloaded (maybe a DoS attack from someone?)

I sent Flayra a patch for the message board software, hopefully it keeps the problem from reoccurring.

    DoS attack on a BBS?

The server could easily recover from that... its just a mysql malfunction. Look at the error a little closer

Mysql might be "stable" but its not a superman server. If anything, I could suggest to Flay about switching to a database built for heavier loads, such as Sybase or Postgre. I can writeup a database driver for him if need be. I helped re-code the security system on invision when it was first released, so I have an idea of what im doing

It wouldnt hurt for Flay/MonsE to upgrade to the latest invision either

MySQL works just fine. I looked at the errors nice and close, the sessions file was full and not responding. I've seen it done to a phpBB board as a DoS. Although, that board also used a MySQL db... Hrmm, I'd like to see how a Sybase or Postgre database handles the massive loads sent by the session modules of most current message boards... Do you know where I can see some graphs or something showing the performace increase. The company I work for doesn't have too much of a problem with their MySQL servers, but they have a tendancy to go insane on the resources when loads get high.

Agreed on the upgrade tho, keeping the version current is always a good idea
