Recyclling?

<div class="IPBDescription">How does it work exactly?</div> Recently I've been using this strategy as commander that i don't bother with turret factories or turrets at res. nozzles. I just keep securing resource nozzles with my main group and tell some soldier stay back and to camp there. If he dies and the res. tower gets attacked then I press the recycle button. With this strategy, I'm usually swimming in resources and can quikly "outtech" the opponent. But i still wonder how much the recycle part is worth.

So does anyone here know how many resources you get back for recycling? And does it matter if the building is destroyed after you press the recycle button or does health factor in?

well the recycle factor has come in handy in many games i've played when the commander has accidentaly placed a building on top of a soldier. i can't think of any other instance where the recycle feature is useful. besides getting a few resources back. i'm not sure how many you get back either. but the recycle feature is useful for untrapping those soldiers running all over the place and the commander just so happens to place a building on top of him. haha.

I recycle mainly if an outpost is lost anyway. Might as well get a few last bucks out of it.
But i did some small quik tests on recycling. You only get the resources after the building finishes recycling, health doesn't seem to matter. You get somewhat less than half of what you paid for the building, 50 res amslab gets you 20 resources. Recycling seems to take around 10 seconds.

Some commanders use it to end the game quickly if there is no hope of winning. ie. 3 Hives Alien.
Recycle the infantry portals and it's over.

Hrm. Recycling Resource Nodes when being mobbed by skulks and no marines nearby seems to be one of the most original ideas I've heard in a while. At least a little while there and it pays for itself if it can't be defended.
