Items in Luggage Bags Dissapear

Just returned from the Aurora and placed the luggage bags, I filled with items from the Aurora, on the ground beneath my lifepod. Went to the Kelp Forest to grab some silver to make computer chips. After returning and making the computer chips, I swim down to get a battery from one of the bags. Well, I was quite surprised to find all three of the luggage bags completely empty.
I had saved after finding the silver in the Kelp Forest, so all those items are irretrievable. This wouldn't bother me a whole lot, but all the unique items from the Aurora - the posters, hat, etc. - were in those luggage bags. If I had only lost renewable items, I wouldn't be as peeved; but, I'm forced to use the console.
