with this model consistency thing, does it only check that the models fit within hitboxes or does it lock the model/skin completely?

then nothing technicly owns quake1 engine.. no it will force default skins. the file consistency thing checks to see if the files are exactly identical to the one the server is useing. if not it will not allow connect.
