Does amount of free space on HDD make a difference?

in Subnautica on Consoles
I have over 20gb of free space on my Xbox one and I only get lag when moving in or out of ocean, still get slow map pop in but no low FPS, does free space make a difference ?

    IIRC HDD slowdowns usually only become an issue if you are under 10% free space of the total drive, cause it would than have to start swapping and shuffling date around. Only for programs that are heavy on writing to a cache file though


    Not sure... Lads, is Subnautica gobbling up HDD time doing this or is it mostly reading?
