@Devs: Might consider changing "Mobile Vehicle Bay" to "Portable Vehicle Bay" see reason:

Some might think "Mobile" describes "Vehicle" instead of "Bay" (which doesn't make sense, but you get used that kind of wonkiness in games and online). Then, they might think that the MVB is a base component, and get confused when they can't build it. *shrug* it's possible.


"Portable Vehicle Bay" would be hard to confuse.

I looked for the meaning of mobile and portable:

Mobile: 1: capable of moving or being moved; 5: marked by the use of vehicles for transportation

Portable: 1a : capable of being carried or moved about; 1c : usable on many computers with little or no modification

Mobile and Portable are also listed as synonyms for each other.

Portable seems to imply that it can be carried by a person. The Latin origin meant to carry.

Mobile simply means movable, by whatever means necessary. The Latin origin simply means to move. Extremes are a mobile phone, which can be carried to a mobile rocket launcher or M.A.S.H. unit (Mobile Army Surgical Hospital), which require trucks to move.

So portable always meant mobile, but mobile did not always mean portable. However, modern usage tends to get sloppy, so there may no longer be a true distinction.

So in my case I don't care weather it's mobile or portable vehicle bay. I'm not a big fan of this construction anyway. For me there is no need for it if the moon pool would be also for construction of vehicles.

Quick unofficial poll. Did ANYBODY at any point think that the "mobile" referred to the vehicles rather than the bay in the item description?

I vote "Portable Vehicle Bay" is only because it makes it more clear you can pick the thing up after use. This isn't common knowledge/deduction at present.

I vote for abolishing the mobile / portable vehicle bay completely. Building vihicles is possible with a special new base module or the moon pool.

That would make it very expensive to get your first vehicle and doesn't account for the (Cyclops? and) Rocket Base (and since I'm hoping for a small boat one day, a boat).

Drop the railing, strap a pair of Seaglides on it and you have a Mobile Vehicle Bay. Might even use it to construct Seabase modules. Then we could also build vehicles under water.
