[Experimental]I've been having huge lag issues with "grassy" biomes?

I decided to start up an experimental playthrough a week or two ago. For a while, it went pretty well. However, recently, i've been getting extreme lag in "grassy" biomes such as the kelp forest, and the grassy plateaus. I'm not sure what's causing this. Up until very recently, i've been able to run this game with almost no lag.
Please help! I want to play and check out the new features in experimental, but it's just too difficult with the lag i'm getting.
