Is the first story playable in the new update?

I started a new game with the new update and already played a lot but unfortunately before I could explore the lost river / lava zones I got the "cyclops disappears when loading" bug.
I am kind of disappointed and unmotivated to start a new game right now and wanted to ask if the first story is currently playable with the stable build (I didn't discover something new in the first hours except a warper spawning in my face).
In Trello there is this card "BAREBONES first playable story" in the dangerous creatures Update so if I can play the story with the new update that would motivate me to try a new game.
