So I was researching the Disese on 4546B, I think it's called the Carar, and found a bit of info that said that green pustules form on the infected skin! So that could mean that every time you see a gasopod the green things are Carar pustules and the fart balls are Carar spores. That could also mean that Reef Backs are infected because they have green spots on them aswell. There's probably nothing true about my theory but tell me what you think!

Hmm, Carar sounds like Kharaa, maybe it is a previous strain of the Kharaa bacterium infestation

It's implied it's the same disease from NS. And I'm not sure about reef backs, but the gasopod pda entry argues heavily, stating hat it's an algeal sack that feeds the gasopod for protection.
