How many maps are there

I have noticed all the maps are different from each other (when I've been recreating game to find my favourite one) not long ago there were 8 now there are 20+ and the escape pod landing sites are all different
Devs please tell be how may map variations there are I want to find my favourite map

There's only one map, and it's constantly updated.

What LeonDOGE said, plus in a new game your lifepod's initial position is somewhat randomized but always somewhere within the central Safe Shallows zones.

The Escape Pod location is also randomly selected within the safe shallows
