Question for the Devs about further Plans

Hi there,

as much as I love this game, how is it going on? After one postponed content update and 2 Oculus updates at least here in Germany it`s getting late on Thurday for the Machinery Update. Not to mention that you cut/merged the creature attack update into that.
I`m really getting sad about this game. Had high hopes for it being able to be a Minecraft like game with nice Graphics. But then you said Multiplayer, not really. Mods, not really. Leaving behind a still great game, but once everything is done playing inside it, to be forgotten quite soon. I got the feeling you guys are more eager to get the game out in time and on Oculus/Consoles than making it a long lasting wonderfull experience. Of course you want to make money with it, but wouldn`t you get more of it the more and longer this game is to be played?
So, since the Roadmap and other Trello info are nice, but simply get changed from you the infos aren`t that reliable. Where is Unknownworlds going with Subnautica? And will there more content added after the current roadmap end or does it and there as is?

...people just want too much from the devs...

Really, I think we can be glad they let us see what they are working on. So there will be delay, nothing wrong with that, really. Come on, people, give the devs some room :D They do great! And we can dream, yes. But they are those who face the reality of this complex process + they are not big team. They have to sacrifice content, concepts etc. Deal with it. So far we had big say in many things and I am greatful to devs for that!

The Delay is bad, simply cause they put in Oculus for that.
I`m not complaining about the game, I love it. And that`s the point; I want to get it even better. Unlike others who mourn about the upcoming Oxigen problems I just take it as is, a challenge (Only thing with that what I complain about is that you can`t save in Hardcore mode, sometimes the game doesn`t even save when leaving that`s why I don`t play hardcore anymore).
And for your Topic, I don`t want something from the Devs other than knowledge if this game is done once the roadmap is completed or not. Heard rumors about Game companies that much further improve their games once it`s out. ;-P

Edit: At least they didn`t start with stupid Achievements for everything you do ingame what`s getting pretty common (and annoying).

Well on that @NamelessChaos, I can agree with you. I would love further support for the game after the release. And my money are on the further support - for now. We'll see. Your post is not wro

I very rarely play Early Access games for 2-3 precise reasons, Mainly:

1-During the roughly 2 years (it varies from games to games) it'll be in early access, Game experience WILL change, sometimes a bit sometimes drastically. what you like now may become hated tomorrow, kinda. I'll also put general ''expectations'' in this section. What you think the game will be in 2 years, 1 year or 6 months from now may very well be different than what it is now.

2-You never know if a game will get dumped during EA stage. EA games often cost 15-30$ each (not taking into account sales that can occur) so seeing a game being abandonned by its devs before it hits full release can be heartbreaking.

3-Game Performance can start roughly good but then the more it develops you realize your computer isnt meeting minimum requirements anymore as the official release date approach. (if you got a very recent comp youre fine but mine is aging, so it become a problem with recent games)

When you decide to go for an Early Access game you decide to take a somewhat calculated risk. You like what you see and decide to give the game and its developpers a vote of confidence that you like the direction the game is going in. With Subnautica its the same deal. Devs havent promised anything else than what we saw from the Trailers and you can monitor their progress via the Trello boards. No one forces you to buy the game until youre fine with how the game progresses, either.

There is still several months until the game's final and completed phase hits official release (personally i dont really believe in August as a realistic deadline, it'll most likely be later than that imo) so gameplay experience may very well change until then and we all hope for the best

The reason i decided to give Subnautica a chance, even tho its still in EA stage, is because i loved what i saw so far but accepted the fact that i could be dissapointed by the end result, compared to my own expectations of what will be the end result at official release. So far i must say that im pleased by what i see. This is my personal opinion but i think the Devs of this game are good and professional. They are involved in the community and when they see that something is extremely unpopular they dont hesitate to comment and sometimes change things in-game (airtanks being incorporated into the paperdoll UI immediately comes to mind, not sure if it was planned beforehand tho).

Sure they wont acquiesce to every single demands of the players (and im extremly glad they dont, too  ) but theyre keeping the steer straight with what they had in mind and im very happy to see that. I have good faith that in the end, ill be very pleased with how this game will release.
