Would It Be Possible To Do Switching After Rounds?

Flip-Flop the teams automatically
One thing that annoys me to no end are the people that play only ONE side. Every time the game starts, you see the same people running for the same door.

What I like to do is play one side, then switch to the other side, then play a new map. Could it be possible to do a server side thing where it skips the readyroom? All those in the alien team will be put as marine, all those marine will be put as alien, automatically (assuming something is keeping the teams balanced during gameplay).

As it stands now, as soon as the map is over, I usually yell out on the mic "Everyone switch sides! Lets let the other team play our side". And then I watch the marines run back into the marine door, and I have to play alien AGAIN. I mean, I like alien, but I'm *always* alien. The only time I'm marine is if I'm one of the first at the door. Often I'm in the doorway, with 5 other guys that want to be marine, and no one wanting to go into the alien door. I have to give up and join the aliens, and watch 2 more marines join up.

This would be a server option (not forced), what do you think?

Well, first of all, I wouldn't leave. So your blanket statement is overall false.

Secondly, this would be a server option. Those that LIKE this option would play there, those that don't wouldn't play in the first place. So option b) is irrelevant.

Option a) could be removed by not having a readyroom. Hitting F4 could make you a plain spectator.

look, I have nothing against fliping the teams (I personaly would like to get to play marines more than I do (like 1 in 10 game if that)

I just don't think that this would work

look at how the games are currently, you wantch as like 1 marine and 1 3 aliens walk to the alien side

and the rest CHJARGE the marine side, and then it there until 2 of them spawn b/c one person went aliens

    shesh

Don'T you get it though? This is to fight that. If people are forced to play both sides on every map, they'll quickly realise that that's how the server works, and will learn to play aliens fast enough.

I'm betting after 2-3 times, 75% of the people that rush the marine side will be content to play both sides, since the server told them they should.

So when one team is totally dominate over the other what happens when the other teams quits after the 1st round because they don't want to play against the same team and get crushed again?

I rarely play marines for that reason and another is that marines always lose! Unless the marines have a competent commander and/or the aliens are terrible, they are going to lose especially on a pub server. I think aliens are fun too. If I want to shoot a gun, I would go play CS. I noticed that most scrimmages are like this, they switch sides after they get their shot at a side.

Oh and when I do try to be marine, there is a mad rush to the marine entrance

The NS team tried to balance the two teams, whilst making them as different as possible. The aleins are meant to be more deathmatch style individuals, while the marines are supposed to be team based.

These two game types are going to appeal to different people, and forcing people to play a style they don't like is just asking for those people to start ruining the game by behaving like retards, simply because they don't like the team they have been forced to play on.

It may be a good idea for a server with mature people who don't mind which team they play on, but sadly, for the vast majority of servers this does not apply.

I like playing either side multiple times, since it helps me with my skills.

It is definitely a possibility. In Counter-Strike, the short-lived "escape maps" had this very feature integrated (because the maps were designed like slaughterhouses.) Every 6 rounds, the teams would automatically swap.

yes, but 6 rounds in cs is WAY < then 1 rnd in NS

there is a limit to people on a team , don't join in and wait for someone else to go alien
Also I prefer to use random then actually choosing a side

I think you're overlooking one thing:

The readyroom is the single greatest gaming convention in the history of ... gaming.

In the escape scenarios, I would always time my team-switch perfectly so I would end up being auto-swapped back to the completely over-sided CT side ;p

I'd like to see some kind of countermeasure to prevent people from stacking up outside a particular team entryway. It's rediculous to see seven people all staring at each other outside the marine team portal, waiting to see who will go join Aliens so they can join.

You all realize that there is a balancing program for NS that autobalances teams like 30 seconds after theres 2 more people on one team than there is on the other
