I think these would be very useful when building habitats.
The 45 degree up/down would allow you to build tiered level habitats.
(An incline ramp or stairs inside the tube)
Handy on hillsides, and would also help you cut through arches or maneuver builds through caves
The 45 degree L-bend would be useful for going around items.
Again in caves, or through arches. Maybe even cluster together other pieces for interesting designs.

As a counter-proposal, why not expand the connection options of the room to allow connection of existing corridor pieces to the diagonal faces, auto-inserting an appropriate 45deg corridor piece on construction, similar to the current placement of hatches on those faces.
