Seamoth dug itself underground after collision or dismantling based

I had 2 encounter where seamoth gone missing but signal still there in a specific location, after awhile I realised it dug itself under the ground.
I had to use terraformer to dig it out.

Is there anything in particular that are doing when you notice the seamoth has disappeared?
