ping feature for subs

hi all very new to this forum but I was curious and could not find any other post regarding this

yes I know this game is in alpha and no I will NOT hold any developer to this post as a promise should they/he/she choose to comment on here
But........ ;;) ........ I was wondering would it be possible to add a ping feature to for the Cyclops sub to find out how depth to bottom of ocean. (even if it is an upgrade)
even if it is a once off ping that must be player activated
Is it a maybe planned feature or is this something the studio has not even thought of or was it thought of and discarded as too finicky
any information anyone has regarding this would be greatly appreciated.
