Capping Resources

I remember reading somwhere that you cna cap resoruces. Now myquestion is... how to do so? I know that when you out the cursor over resources (as cmdr) you get a switch ikon. do youjust click? -blah?

land mine = evil
put an RC over it.

to cap a resource node (I was in a game where they did this), build offensive turrets over the hole.. or any kind of turrets.. it keeps other gorges from taking over "your" spot. *SIGH* but to stop the marines from getting one? no clue.
