<div class="IPBDescription">Have some more adjustments to do.</div>I have worked my butt this easter break to get something almost finished to send badmofo for our map as i have bin so darn lazy now for a wile only partying and drinking beer. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
The skin is almost finished i tryed to do an so detailed skin as possible within the limit of 512x512 pixels and 256 colours.
i belive its good enough almost now to be an map prefab for our map.
The pollys are now down to 805 with landing gear and all.
I cut the original model bye badmofo down from 1004 to 805 and the original model didt have any landing gear.
First is the screenie of badmofos original concept sketch.
And then some angles of the skinned modell.
But keep in mind that this is not anything final only wath i have done so far so that badmofo can send the map to flayra for playtest.

    Superb, love the weathering. Very professional <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    I really like the beat up and worn look of this. It's also got a very detailed look to it. I like that.

    I've got two gripes though:

    1. That green stripe is used far too much in my opinion... it just doesn't look good like that. Maybe if you use it a little more sparingly it would turn out a bit better. I really like how it looks in some places, like the back doors and the tiny thin strip above the cockpit... but I think there is way too much of it in other places.

    2. The metal diamond plated texture. It appears to be put here and there in a sort of patchwork fashion. I don't think this works out very well. Maybe if you wanted it to have the appearence of being patched up, you could scale that texture down a bit and put a more visible trim around it with some bigger rivits. I don't know... maybe not. (I'm clueless when it comes to modelling/skinning, so forgive me if I'm suggesting something unreasonable.)

    Overall, this looks like it's turning out great, but if I were you, I'd work on those two issues. Or maybe I'm the only one who sees them as issues.

    Great job. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    Thanks everyone for the input.
    I know that the ship looks cluttered right now but as i wanted to only use one 512x512 pixel skin.
    So where i forced to use the same surface on on alot of surfaces i included an explanation on how the skin looks so that its easier to understand wath i mean.
    This was actually my first real skinning attempt as truespace 2 that i usually use when i model for my renderings is completely differrent.
    And when you model and skin an model for rendering so do you dont have any limitations.
    a long time ago so did i some crappy modells of 2 weapons and one fist for an small 3d engine.
    And with crappy so do i mean crappy.
    Iam yust not that experienced in modelling and skinning ingame modells but i have to start somewhere. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    Now that's some wacked up metal. Should have used it <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->

    i agree with ken about the diamond metal texture and green stripes.  i think the green stripes would continue to fit if they were more defined at the edges. i really like green, but it looks quite contrasted with the yellow nearby.  perhaps if the outer edges of the green striping faded to a yellower tinge... i dunno.

    as for the diamond texture, i cant think of what to suggest. i really think it looks out of place, maybe if it was much darker.

    and the danger sign on the back doesnt make much sense to me.  that's the sort of sign one would see tacked to a chain link fence, not something transatmospheric.

    but overall it looks very good and i cant wait to see it in game, keep up the good work ~:)

    i just had an idea for saving a bit of space by using it for another small detail-type-thingie, you could have the windows as that chrome-reflective skin, (like the one on barny's helmet) and you could now use the area inside the window on the skin for something else... (it'd have to be small though <!--emo&:(--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('><!--endemo--> )

    damn thats looking good - but use 2 skins (both 512x512) if its limiting you.  I REALLY like the weather effects.  Although something can always be improved on...i think you have done a fantastic job for just one weekend (you lazy ### <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo--> ) - hehehehe.

    It definitely looks like a pile of scrap metal glued together.  And since eeryone's already commented on the green and the diamonds, I'll just say this:  That Egyptian type symbol on the side in the last picture is a great touch.  The eye watches all.

    yeah at first I thought it was Greedo's avatar <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
    Looks good so far, nothing to add, all has been said before, keep working on it...

    Um... is it supposed to be in black and white? Or is that just to reduce file size or something?

    The screenie of the skin is messed up yust so that people dont mess with it and take credit for it before i even are finished.
    It was mainly to explain the placement of the parts of the skin.
    As it have happen to me as not every one on the net are that honest sadly enough.
    I included the main body part from the skin to explain it some more.

    the first thing i said when i saw the model was "whooa!" out loud. but then i sort of noticed what ken20banks later posted.
    and i agree with him. to much green striped. it looks like a toy that way. maybe it should b white and red instead. much less of it anyhow.

    and the diamond thing:
    It doesn't make sence. try removing the diamonds and add just a LITTLE bit of rust.

    I know this has been said already (alot) but...

    I associate that diamond texture with non-slip flooring, I just can't imagine anyone wanting to walk on those areas.

    Green & black stripes? Where have you ever seen green and black stripes?  Nowhere that's where.

    The yellow (I assume it's supposed to be yellow) stripes look too green, try using an orangier/browner shade.

    I wasn't expecting it to look so worn out, having seen the previous pictures.  I think you've down well with the weathering and general used & abused look of the matalwork.
