How about making something like the left one for a fade...and the right one for a ....a....Heavy armour trooper.......(i'm still drawing the "fade"...need to finish his left foot, i'm a lot farther than what is shown, and i need to do the background --> a swamp)
I know this is hard lol....but you asked for ideas...

You might want to consider optimizing the image before you upload it next time. It COULD and SHOULD be smaller. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
Anyway, isn't that a bit too medieval/fantasy to fit in <i>Natural Selection?</i>
but for the guy on the right.....his armour is pretty....starcrafty isn't it?
It's from Warhammer 40,000.

What's wrong with WH40K? I don't particularly like the game itself, but I like the style of the models, and think they look good.
I agree. Space Marines rock! <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

It's basically a culmination of a lot of mecha, games and anime designs I've seen. The concept is thus, I'm tanking up the Heavy Armour something fierce. In due fairness the current NS model is a 'realistic' depiction of how Heavy Armour could look like without making it unwearable due to the sheer bulk of the thing.
BUT ENOUGH OF THAT NONSENSE! We all know beefy burly blokes in huge power suits is what you want to see.
Does everyone else agree that trying to take an onos on with a puny knife seem somewhat useless? Hows about feigning power with a giant arm attachment that can whallop the Kharaa back to whatever hive they crawled out of? The 'scientific' working behind it is thus. I have dubbed it the Heavy Arm (Yes excitement plus people)
Think of a tear drop a fair bit bigger than your forearm, now cut that in half and you have the basic design of my 'All in 1' weapon. Using the latest in anti-grav and personal user control the weapon follows the user around until it is deployed in one of its many functions. (All your gonna get for the time being is the knife explanation. Still working on the some general design problems with the weapon configuration of the LMG and HMG modes...
Ok so for the knife replacement, imagine this huge floating half-teardrop thing with anti-grav capabilities (The thing is light as a feather ok...) It attaches itself to the marines arm giving the appearance of the marine now having a gorillas arm. Take a nice long drawback and punch that pesky Onos as hard as you can in his ugly face. It may not do much damage, but it'll sure look cooler than trying to stab aliens to death.
Concept Art soon (Try weeks), I just suck at sketching armour plating =/
