<div class="IPBDescription">Sometimes great, sometimes not-so-great</div>Ever since the 200 builds where performance began to increase, I have enjoyed playing at real resolutions and being able to see things. I am hugely impressed with the progress that UWE has made over the last short months to make this game work so well.

I have had an issue ever since it started getting better, though, and I wonder if I am alone.

Here are my relevant specs first of all:

AMD Phenom II 3.4 GHZ quad-core
8 GB 1600 DDR3 Corsair
NVIDIA Geforce 550 TI
Corsair SSD 120g

I am not overclocking, but I am heavily considering it as of late.

Anyway, the problem I have been having is that most of the time the game runs fantastically, but after a game, or sometimes after 3 or 4, it suddenly slows to a slideshow. Closing the game and restarting fixes it, but I can't find an error in the console that preculdes this happening. Changing video options does not seem to make a difference. Also, curiously, today I started a fresh game and it was going slow and then after a minute it suddenly quickened up and worked great.

The slideshow is also usually accompanied by the fans in my case(presumably on my geforce) slowing down.

Is this a known issue, happening to anyone else? Not the biggest problem, but is certainly inconvenient.

Sounds like an overheating issue. Can you try tracking your CPU and GPU temperatures via a program like OCCT?

I have restarted and checked the temps via BIOS, but that is the closest I have gotten as far as temperatures go. I have wondered if it is a related issue though. I am installing OCCT now, I'll let you know what it says

So, I just checked things out with the OCCT. Frames started really bad this last game, even pressing esc for the menu took about 5 seconds to load the menu. I did change settings, and about a minute later things got playable. The temperature never went above 65C. I am wondering if there is something telling my computer it should still be idling instead of playing a game?

What motherboard? Go in and turn off any sort of CPU scaling such as "Cool & Quiet" . Also make sure your case has adequate ventilation, it could very well be a component overheating and throttling down.
