NS2 switches my webcam on

Most Flash and DirectX applications will briefly 'ping' it when starting up (or any other such devices), causing it to come on briefly.

However NS2 activates it and keeps it on. It doesn't go off.

Perhaps you could fix this.

It's an MS Lifecam Cinema HD. However I imagine the game will do this with many / most webcams. If people aren't noticing, it's probably because their webcams don't have an activation LED.

Is your microphone built into the webcam? If so, maybe it's just turning it on so you can use voicechat. Also, why do you imagine the game does it with many/most webcams? My webcam does not turn on when I open my game, it does have an LED so I am sure.

I believe this is actually part of the new system which helps give direct feedback to devs. They mentioned it a few times, how it keeps track of crashes, time spent as classes, games played, and also facial expressions throughout the game. It will also auto-upload any naked pictures it happens to pick up directly into Hugh's pants.
