Monkey?

The patch notes mentioned a "monkey" having better randomized actions to better mimic a player... What is this?

I mean I recall there being an ability to create fake units for Alien Com, but I don't think that was the name?

Monkeys are used for development - they are just a simple program that mimics a player. Good when you don't have 30 players waiting on your beck-n-call when you want to test large games. This note just refereed to a minor improvement in when monkeys send their moves to the server. Shouldn't really have been part of the patch notes.

The real purpose of NS2 is to proof the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infinite_monkey_theorem" target="_blank">infinite monkey theorem</a>.
Thats why the performance is so bad. The server has to simulate monkeys that recreate hamlet AND pretend to calculate a game.
I mean, come on. Its in the Name! Natural Selection!
