Menu freezes on startup/entering server.

Since around build 204 I have bought this game and clocked about 2 hours of gameplay with it, then around build 206/7 whenever I started up Natural Selection 2 I got into my menu screen and just couldn't click on a thing. My mouse had changed into the "NS2 mouse, so to say" but I couldn't do anything. When I tried to delete the menu cinematic, offered as a fix for the problem, I could click things in the menu again but then when I connected to a server, yep you guessed it, I couldn't do anything again.
I have tried looking up fixes, I tried googling "natural selection menu freezes on startup" but I only get fixes that nvolve the steam workshop, wich I am not subscribed to or anything. Reinstalling and verifying the game cache didnt work either, at a point I just got desperate and reinstalled windows 7, wich unfortunately didn't work either... I also tried putting up the worst graphical option, where the name of it actually made me giggle, I think it was called absolutely horrendous or something, but anyway, didn't work...
Does anyone have a fix or anything? I have no clue on what to do... x.x The reason I took so long to post this is because I was forcing myself to find a solution myself, but I just don't know what to do anymore...
Ps. I didn't get a crash report either, my task manager saw the game as running.
Pps. specs: Nvidia gtx260, I have 8gb ram, Phenom II 955 BE (3,2ghz quad core) and a Asus M4A79XTD EVO.
