Bad performances !

<div class="IPBDescription">Ultra Low Framerate !</div>Hello,

Sorry for my English a bit light,

I bought NS2 right out, since the game was in beta I am not too worried about the bad framerate.

But since many builds are out and nothing has changed.

I play on a laptop with an ATI Radeon 3650 512Mb dedicated (but GDDR3 as many laptops), 4GB of ram and an Intel P8400.
The drivers are not very recent (2009), but blocked by the manufacturer (Toshiba).

I obviously tried to reduce all the graphics options to minimum, and for the resolution!

I do not know my current framerate, but I would not be surprised to have 3 FPS!

Thank you for helping me! : '(

Sorry, but I dont think even fully optimised NS2 will run on a laptop.

My laptop turns the source games easily, Counter Strike Source runs well between 80 and 120 FPS depending on the cards, provided you do not be too greedy in the settings.

Especially that played on a screen 22 "native resolution (1680 * 1050 pixels).

NS2 is CPU bound, not GPU.

So unless your CPU in a laptop can overpower the unoptimisation it just will not run well.

    I have an i7 3770K at 4.2GHz and I get about 70 early-mid game and 30-40 late game.

also the source engine is 8 years old, and therefore highly refined.

the best advice you can get is this: it will get better, but it's going to highly depend on the server right now. check net_stats 1 to watch the server tickrate. if the tickrate is low, you'll see a client impact, so play on a high tickrate server.
