OK ok, I know this is a dumb question and it will take 2 seconds to answer, but, I cant find it for the life of me. Where do i specifiy what port I want to use to run a dedicated server?
Oh, and another question. Do you think it is wise to run a dedicated server on the same machine while playing the game on that server? I have quite a beefy computer. AMD xp 2200+, asus a7v333 mobo, 512MB DDR, GeForce 4 ti 4600
it sounds like you are going to have a dedicated server running on a win32 computer soo.. add +port:(port number) to the shortcut in the start menu.. it would look something like this..
I forgot to mention i was running win2k pro <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
you'd probably be better off running a listen server when you want to play if you only have one machine to host on <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

C:\sierra\half-life\hlds.exe -game ns +port:27015 +map ns_bast -maxplayers 24
as far as running a DS and playing on the same machine.. I don't know if that's even possible.. never tried.
