Config file and binding

<div class="IPBDescription">Is it or will it be possible?</div>One of the things that I enjoyed about playing Counter Strike and the HL engine was the use of a central persistent config file where you could save all of your preferences and bindings that would override the defaults. I was also dabbled a little bit in setting up my own aliases and (non-cheating) scripts, stuff like customized buymenus, personalized team-commands, small macros, etc.
I know that you have to balance customization with game fairness.
However, I don't have any idea what Lua is or how it works, and by poking around in the game files all I see are tons and tons of individual files, and no central config. I have heard other posters mention that things like custom binds are not even implemented yet.
Does this level of customization already exist in the game? If not, are we going to get it, or to what extent?

They'll surely let you modify that in the future, don't worry! :)

Where is that file located?
Try:
C:\Users\[Twiggeh]\AppData\Roaming\Natural Selection 2\
Edit:
Nevermind, found this in another thread.
Go into the windows file explorer, write %appdata% as path in the box(not the search box), click on natural selection 2
=> options.xml
In Win 7 its Control Panel>Appearance and Personalization
Click 'Show hidden files and folders' under Folder Options
Then select 'Show hidden files, folders, and drives' under Advanced Settings
