The beta is a different client, the non beta client hasnt had the audio recording feature for nearly two years, who knows when they'll add it

The afterburner beta has finished, sound recording is now included in by default now in the normal afterburner client if you have updated it

I second gregion, works pretty smoothly

Used playclaw earlier but the new version had annoying glitches :(

The last beta is from the 20 March 2012
The last stable version is from the 17 September 2012.
The announce of the (perhaps) future dual audio recording has been made the 29 September 2012.

Either way, it's totally impossible that it's in the stable or the beta version. And btw, apparently yes the beta is discontinued and older than the stable versions.

For standard recording I use Fraps + MeGUI (free) to encode [ + virtual dub for edit if needed ]
    For streaming: XSplit

If you want to try a free version for streaming, you can try Adobe Media Flash Encoder, but you need a sound mixer if you want to record game sounds plus mic. (eg Virtual Audio Cable, which itself is not free though). I only somehow always have had troubles with that, so I bought xsplit - easy to use and pretty stable.

    1) Full version of Bandicam to record gameplay.
    2) Avidmux(free) to segment the .avi (Make the video longer or shorter, etc.)
    3) Oxelon Media Converter(free) to encode to .mov for youtube uploading.

I've used fraps and the like which is good when you can keep a steady 80 or so FPS to guarantee that you wont be stuck going back and forth between 30 and 60fps. After using it for 400+ videos I found dxtory and never looked back. With it and proper raid0 HDDs there near 0 FPS loss and it isn't locked, the video quality is very good. No stuttering or frame drops. Also the fact that you're not limited to 1 HDD partition is wonderful, you can use a 3rd as backup in case you run over the HDD space.

I have been trying out dxtory and afterburner and both programs are much better than fraps in my experience. I easily get 10 more fps from those two programs. Though for some reason the dxtory videos will lag like hell when I play them and the afterburner videos will not, so I am sticking to afterburner from now on.

Remember guys that when using DXtory, the "low quality" setting is actually way more than enough for YouTube/online purposes :P

Nice to know. Maybe I'll try it out again on low then. :)

So I've been playing around with MSI Afterburner and I seem to be getting roughly 5fps less than Fraps when recording (i.e. worse performance). Can anyone suggest any Afterburner settings that may help reduce the performance hit?
