Yes? No?
Or... BAD RAPTOR YOU SHOULD NEVER ASK SOMETHING SO STUPID AGAIN?
As of right now I can't do this because my video card is fairly outdated (alongside my nearly brand new everything else in my PC, it's easily the only performance bottleneck I have right now) and gets terrible framerates if I try to record with any reasonable quality. However, I plan on upgrading it soon(ish) and will be able to record at LEAST 720p resolution videos, and I was thinking of recording some NS2 footage and uploading it to youtube. Would this generally be frowned upon, or is it alright? I mean I wouldn't showcase broken or bugged things (If I could help it) obviously, and I'd try to keep it to the general concept of "cool preview" type videos. Just curious what your guys' thoughts on the subject is.
I'm partly bringing this up because I'm seriously going to do it in a few months when I upgrade my video card, provided it's okay with the team, and partly because I noticed steam won't let you change uploaded screenshots of the game from private to friends-only or public. Can't even show off a black/default marine armor comparison shot on my steam profile, sheesh.

The game is at the point now where it is rapidly becoming more and more presentable to the public. From what i gather, the Devs have intentionally not put too much into NS2 advertising because especially during the Alpha and early Beta, the game wasn't really ready for major publicity, and for the most part i had agreed. But now with significant optimization's in client and server performance and all the new visual improvements like the Marine HUD re-haul and ingame Atmospherics making a return, the time to step up publicity is coming in the near future, and Youtube is a great place to start.
As long as you are making videos in good spirit, i don't think anyone here would find fault with you making as many videos of NS2 as you please :P
None of us have, so you can say/do what ever the hell you like.
As i recall its simply Steam's standard protocol regarding games that are closed, or aren't available through its services. It won't allow you to upload those shots in the same way that people who are in the Counter-Strike:Global Offensive Beta wouldn't be able to as well. Even though NS2 is purchasable by anyone it can't be purchased through Steam, thus Steam treats it like other top secret behind-curtains titles.

It is actually possible to upload them, you just can't get the link to them, as NS2 don't display in your online screenshot folder.
There's a thread on here as well that has a lot of clan matches and scrims...
here ya go

To make it legal in terms of what YouTube allows. Commentary is needed. Showcase, with legal music or parodies are allowed as well. I made my own music for the 188 showcase/parody vidya I did (don't laugh at the simplicity dammit, it still sounds good :P) So don't go putting copyrighted music tracks in there
I thought this is only if your trying to do their partner program?
Also, tons of us have already put a bunch of NS2 game footage on YouTube and afaik UWE is ok with it.
YouTube will allow game uploads without commentary. (Provided, as Kouji said, you're not currently, and are not applying to be a partner).
