New PTs

Is there a time when new PTs are selected? It bugs me that I think there is a lack of decent players testing the newest builds which is going to completely skew the balance of the game.

Also, is there someone I can e-mail about a specific PT? I have no idea what the guidelines are for being one, is there a list of rules/etc somewhere?

PTs are usually selected from 'people we know and trust' and members of the community and large NS communitys who have been around a long time.

Don't let it bug you, the level of skills involved in the playtesters group range from new to NS2, to competitive players, to long-time public players. There is a good mix, dont worry.

BTW, you ARE a playtester, all current beta testers are playtesters. You can submit bugs and fixes for review just like the internal playtesters. The only difference being internal playtesters have to test a lot of boring stuff, try to reproduce odd and hard to find bugs, which can take hours or days. There is a lot of work involved, we don't just play the game.

Sit tight, if we think you're one to have, we'll ask.

the internal playtesters don't really balance the game, but find critical bugs before they get into a public build.
Sure, if critical balance problems are found by the internal testers, they are fixed, but thats not the main objective, thats what the public releases are for.

We actually don't use the PTs for balance - we look at the larger data and stats from released versions to guide the numbers.
