I'm sure you'll see a lot more teams once the game is more polished / balanced.

I don't even understand how you can play a match this current build, it's so unbalanced towards aliens.

Because we like this game ! Ok Alien are very strong, so if in Marine you win it's a BIG Congratz !!! i like when it's very difficult.

Actually, I find in B183 the only times I win as marines is if the alien team is downright terrible. Its like beating up a handicapped kid. Not fun at all.

in FFA yes ! but in match, if marine win, it's because the strat is "special" !

Are there any other US East players? I wouldn't mind being a part of a team. PM me and/or add me on steam moomooaloomoo@hotmail.com (inactive e-mail now but it's still used as my steam login)

GG HBZ. Wish we could have played another round, but one of us had to leave. You had balls trying a gorge rush! lol
• SyknikSyknik InversionNS2.com Join Date: 2002-11-01 Member: 2064Members, Constellation, NS2 Map Tester, Reinforced - Supporter, Reinforced - Shadow
Yeah, i'm sorry HBZ for me having to leave, I was at my friends place and it would have been rude of me to play another round. I told them i'd just play 2-3 rounds depending, on if it was 1-1 or not, so when they saw that it was over, I had to leave that was the arrangement =( Again, sorry I had to leave would have been fun to play again.

On another note, if I hadn't of looked back and saw 2 gorges slide by into ventilation, your gorge rush would have been successful, I just happen to catch the stomachs of 2 gorges slide by lol.

Was a very fun game, and hope we have another game soon, I enjoy playing you guys. =)

What kind of server specs are you using to host HBZ and Frelge?
Interested to know what specs relate to player slots and tick rates

Frelge :

Server Virtual Dell
Windows 2008 R2 64 bits
Proc : i3 540 (4 x 3.07 Ghz)
Hard drive : Raid 0 (SCSI)
4Go RAM

(the proc is the most important)

Really good game Anagram, congrats.

We, specially me, want try something different than normal on alienside. The gorgerush was well planed but we were 2 sec too fast. ###### happenes :)
Before the game, we discuss why experimenting on the strong side (Aliens). The alienside has more room for different startingstrategys, so we decide to do it.

Looking forward for another match.

@AssassinY2K
HBZ is running on a i7 2600

I thought that the NS2 server only utilizes one core?

Also, why not host it on a Windows 2003 R2 server? rather than the resource hungry Windows 2008 R2 server :)

NS2 use a dedicated core, so no problem about OS :)

At work we have several spare Dell PowerEdge 1950 II 1U Rack Mount Servers not being used at the moment, I managed to plunder one of them for use as a ns2 server

Its spec:

2 x Dual-Core XEON 5160 3.0Ghz Processors
8Gb Ram
2 x 73Gb SAS HDD's

I should have it up and running by tomorrow.

4GB is enough ;) hlds (server.exe) use 500 MB.

It came with 8GB, but I was hoping that the processor would be enough, it was the highest Dual-Core Intel Xeon 5100 sequence processors the motherboard would take.
At a later date, it could be updated to two Quad-Core Intel Xeon 5300 sequence processors at up to 2.66GHz, but I don't see an advantage because both chips are at 1333MHz FSB and NS2 only uses 1 core!

Not sure about yoru processor you might have a bit of issues with the server tickrate, Anagram server uses an i5 and the processor is at 4.7ghz. Even then whenever late game comes the tickrate starts to drop, can get as low as 7-9.

edit: On another note, looking forward to NS2HD putting up the match on youtube. =))

Watching the replay, I didn't know how lucky we got sometimes in that game. We just happened to spot the gorges going by behind one pressure team, and then that last SG blast in the hive while the skulks were busy with other marines. Again, GG. I always wanted to see how a gorge rush would pan out in competitive play, but never really wanted to risk it. Props for trying it out. It wasn't as epic a failure as you might think...we were just lucky to get a little warning. Without that, you probably would have had time to put up hydras in the base and it could have turned out differently.

I <3 ns2hd commentating these, can't wait for first person observing so we can see the skillz. That gorge rush was hilarious btw.

great game, I was shocked to see the SG hit take down the hive before they noticed him. I'm sitting here yelling at the screen "GO BACK GO BACK!" good game!

Yeah, I was so paranoid whenever I was shooting the hive, i saw my two other teammates run back away from the hive and i just stood there looking at it's HP drop slowly, then whenever it had like 10-12% left, I was shooting it, and at 4% left had to reload, and i heard them running back shot ended up at 2% then reloaded one bullet, jumped shot the hive, and it died, then i died lol... It was great fun, had a lot of fun that game, definitely looking forward to the second half... wish it were up by now... =(

yeah, I was thinking about that but fraps still lowers my fps to what i want to the fps i want to record at. Which would be 30fps.. and playing at 30fps.. definitely not smooth and definitely annoying. =P

Record at 60FPS and don't have FPS lock your Framerate. When editing, you will only see the 30FPS and it will look no different than recording at 30FPS. It will also allow (me) to slow down and speed up video without any quality loss :)
