Different Hive Models

So the team is adding different mist effects to the different hive levels, but I think also minor changes to the hive model would be nice too. It would allow the marines to know instantly what level of hive they're sieging. Maybe just add some bone plating on the outside of the hive as it moves up the tiers along with a slight size increase.

I think i rather like more if hive had less bright colors. But yeah I would enjoy seeing different looking models of the hive.

Yes that would be great for visual indication, also Command Facility as well.

Ya. Nothing that would take up a huge amount of time. Just maybe model size, a little change in the coloration and lighting, and if possible maybe a little addition to the model itself like plating or a few extra tentacles. Something that can be done in an afternoon.

I like the idea of having hive get some sort of a bone like alien armor carapace at level 3 to show the health difference.

Why not just take advantage of the existing models system. Instead of coming up with modified models, textures, and re-rigging (animating) those models, it would be MUCH easier to just add some attachment points onto the existing Hive and Comm models. Using the new attachment points you could do all sorts of changes, which would mainly be code based changes. A simple example would be extra tentacles that grow out from the new attachment points. Comm stations could have additional modules on them. I think you get the idea. Work with what UWE has created so far. They don't have the time or resources to create all new (and unplanned) content.

I think this is generally a good idea. It's also worth mentioning that UWE is already thinking about this too. B159 Hive L2/L3 mist effects are proof of that.

Doing this serves to main purposes.

    1. Looking cool.
    2. Visual indication of what level your upgrades are. Its hard to tell currently
