Endgame Server Crashes

Anyone else noticed this? Quite often when a server crashes it seems to be in the endgame. Obviously the longer the game goes on more stuff is being built and more weapons are in use all at the same time. Could some limit be getting exceeded during particularly heavy battles, maybe?

Or am I just playing on ropey servers?

It's very frustrating when you think you're only a couple of minutes away from victory and the server connection dies.
