No "stopsound" ?

<div class="IPBDescription">Doesnt seem to work..</div> I tried typing "stopsound" like in CS to stop the noise on the map cuz it gets annoying after a while and i would rather hear the other people but it doesnt seem to work..

maybe i typed it wrong..

or maybe theres a diff command?

That would give you an unfair advantage now wouldn't it? Thats probably why it was removed.

Try: cl_musicvolume 1, to remove the music. As for the map noises themselves, I don't think removing those would be a very nice thing to do. The mappers spent a lot of time making them feel atmospheric, and the noises do add to the balance of the maps.

Stopsound works perfectly fine on game sounds.
It does not work on in-game music.

ja1num, people pay good money for their systems. so i dont know how or why u call it an "unfair" advantage. look buddy just go and buy yourself some new equiptment and stop accusing other people because they have better computers.

just a suggestion, i wouldnt do it though.
try deleting the map sound files in the appropriate directory

sorry nate, people don't pay good money for thier systems, thier parents do, I bought my computer and had to make some cutbacks, nothing compared to what these guys are going through (and I know because I used to have to play like that back in the day). Maybe a low detail install that sacrifices certain things for fps would be good, after all, one of the reasons the NS team picked HL was its backwards compatibility.

If you could take out things like the steam vents and such, sheesh that would seriously mess these maps up, you are not supposed to be able to hear in some areas, so if you can't here it is there for a reason

I have no job for the past year and in the past year I have scrounged up more money than some of you could get in 5 years at a minimum wage job. I bought a P4 2.0 gighz, a radeion 9700 pro and a 21 inch monitor with money I earned doing odd jobs and a few websites, not one penny came from my parents. lol comprox, I however also drop all spare $$ into buying comps/upgrades (I currently am saving for a GeForce 4) however I am curently helping my GF (also in college) with my savings, so for now, no upgrades.

Personaly, I say: if some one has a better/worse comp don't **obscenity**, dont complain, do attack them (unless it is to steal their comp ;D), etc, we live in an unequal world, if a new comp is realy that important, folow Comp's lead (not the lack of job, just the savings ;D)

my comp is pretty much top of the line, athlon xp 2000+, 512ddr ram, gf4 ti4400, etc.

i paid 600 euros for it.
